RediPour at the 2012 Fall Home and Garden Show

The 2012 Fall Home and Garden Show kicked off at the Portland Expo Center yesterday and RediPour is taking part with a beautiful 20x20 display.

The booth includes a fireplace, planter walls, a bench seat, water feature and outdoor kitchen that is complete with appliances. The entire project was produced in sections at our facilities in Damascus and delivered piece-by-piece to the Expo Center, where it was put together and had flooring and SYNLawn installed.

Along with the new booth came new literature. RediPour is distributing “RediPour Guides” at the show that customers can take home and browse through as they prepare for their next big project. There is also a video display set up that shows the process of a RediPour project from start to finish.

Our booth is staffed with RediPour representatives from open to close at the show, and they are happy to answer any questions that customers may have about the product. A bare RediPour form is also onsite to give customers an example as to what RediPour can create with a simple looking product.

The 2012 Fall Home and Garden Show will continue through the weekend from 11-8 pm on Friday, 10-8 pm on Saturday and 10-6 pm on Sunday. Stop in to get more information on RediPour, or come by to take a seat next to the toasty fireplace.

Removing the "Mess Factor"

To a homeowner, appearance is everything. And when it comes to big projects, the appearance of your home can change drastically.

Retaining walls can be a messy project. If you factor in the amount of forming material, rebar, concrete and other materials that it takes to build a retaining wall, and especially if you want a higher quality product like solid concrete in your backyard, the project can take up a lot of space and cause damage to the surrounding area.

This can lead to a big mess as that equipment can take over your yard and turn it into a construction site that oftentimes the homeowner has to deal with at the end of the day.

With RediPour, that mess is never created. Thanks to the innovative and patented RediPour system, our walls can be set in place and installed without leaving materials all over your property.

Currently, we are installing an 8-foot high wall in Southwest Portland. In a few short hours, the walls were taken off of our trucks and set in place. There was no need to store forming materials that take up space, which also eliminated the need for those materials to be stripped and shipped to a landfill afterward. This process leaves the homeowner happy and with one less headache to deal with as the project progresses.
Take a look at the photos below and see how tidy RediPour keeps your property in the midst of a big project.

Pour, Pour, Pour

Recently, we showed you the beginning stages of a front entrance patio RediPour is installing in Damascus, OR. The process is now near completion after the patio floor and the stairs were poured this week.

The patio is made up of two separate RediPour retaining walls with stairs running along the wall and leading up to the front door. The patio floor is stamped out to give it a more natural look. The stairs, like the walls, were manufactured using RediPour technology.

As you can see in the photos below, the RediPour crew installed and poured each wall in a day. What was once nothing but dirt and debris is now a modern patio that will add value and a beautiful look to the home. Below you will see a realistic view of the project that was created with information gathered by our robot and visualized by our designers. Compare that view with the photos below to see how the project goes from a computer design into a real-life wall.

Scanner Technology

Have you ever wondered how unique a bar code is?

When you go to the grocery store to purchase groceries, they scan your items using the bar code. This not only keeps track of what you bought on your receipt, but it also provides information on price, sales, and inventory. And despite looking similar, each bar code is unique, similar to your fingerprints.

But, did you know your property also has a bar code? Before now, the "scanner" for that bar code was a contractor who would use a tape measure (at best, a laser) to take measurements to manually collect elevations for your project. That allowed for a wide margin of human error that would greatly affect the outcome of your project.

Until now.

RediPour has already drastically changed the game after introducing a Robotic Laser to collect your property's bar code. This technology allowed RediPour to reduce the amount of hours spent at the site collecting data, and provided more accurate information, including water runoff data and the ability to spot potential trouble areas before they become a problem.

In an effort to improve that process further, RediPour is getting ready to introduce technology that takes the data collection of your property/project to the highest level with a Scanner.

How does this benefit you?

When a contractor collects info on your project, they collect only length and width of your property and collect 20-30 elevations to follow. They don't identify exact points, known as Northings and Eastings, which are the exact north and east points that are totally unqiue to your property. No other property in the world has that exact point, and said point has a specific elevation tied to it.

What makes this important is that when you are planning your project, you want the plan to fit exactly so that there is no margin for error. That could mean the difference between having your dream project fulfilled quickly and easily or spending thousands of dollars down the line on repairs or design changes that could still result in a disappointing product for you.

Go to a grocery store and examine a bar code. The standard one has 31 lines, which is used to accurately reflect the information about what your buying when it is scanned. Now, imagine having that same process done to your entire property with high accuracy. That's what you'll get with RediPour's new Scanner technology.

How Your Dream Patio Can Be Formed

The RediPour team has continued work on a house in Damascus, finishing up one retaining wall while beginning the process of installing stairs and a front patio for the entrance area of the house.

After excavation occurred and rock was placed and compacted to provide a sturdy base for our RediPour wall, our robotic laser was set up to start the install of our RediPour wall.

The RediPour wall was then set into place and installed in two hours. After doing a preliminary check to ensure that everything was situated, a concrete line pump was used to pump the concrete from the truck into our wall.

The job is now ready to move on to the next stage, where another RediPour wall will be placed and poured on top of the base wall to prepare for the installation of the stairs. Check out the photos below and we will keep you posted as this job progresses. (Included is a peek at a version of our Top Cap which will be covered in our next "RediPour Visual Guide").

RediPour Visual Guide - Flex-C-Ment

In the first installment of the "RediPour Visual Guide", we're going to show you how our walls are transformed into a finished product using Flex-C-Ment. Flex-C-Ment is a unique concrete mix that is specially designed for vertical application. After adding water and mixing it to find the right consistency, our crew applies the Flex-C-Ment directly to our walls where it creates a strong and durable bond within minutes.

Integrated color packets can be added during the mixing process to make your wall look more visually appealing. After the Flex-C-Ment has been applied, a stamp is used to make intricate designs on the wall, which gives it a unique look.

Below are pictures from a project our crew is currently working on in Damascus. As you can see, after the wall is given a coat of primer, the mix is created and given to the crew members applying it to the wall. After a few minutes, the stamper begins to make imprints, turning the flat wall into a designed wall. The process continues as such until the wall is complete. The process, depending on the stamp, will take one day for a 1,000 square foot wall.

Our Robotic Laser Technology

Programs such as Google Earth and Zillow became great sidekick tools in this project. This job came to us in the form of a single 2D drawing with an address.

The drawing was slightly off scale so we started by improvising a trip to the site with old school methods of architectural scales. Since we hadn’t physically been to the site for a routine survey, we had to become a little more resourceful by grabbing measurements and helpful visuals from both Google Earth and Zillow.com

Based off the drawing and information we had gathered, we started crafting a 3D model of the plan. For most of RediPour’s projects, we incorporate the use of robotic laser technology to assure accuracy of the project. The topographical slope was a key component in determining wall heights for this project and our engineers at RediPour are all about accuracy.

With the information gathered from our robot, we are able to implement the site directly into our 3D modeling software, Revit. This software is extremely innovative, and in projects such as these, we have the advantage of displaying several eye catching aspects such as the fire place, shallow fountain pool, and lighting fixtures. Watch this short video of the project to see some of these attributes.

Award Winning Technology

The RediPour booth made a second appearance at the Yard, Garden, & Patio
Show at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The three day show was a huge
success as RediPour sparked an interest in many home owners, contractors, and
landscape designers. Traffic seemed consistently busy and most of our traffic seemed
intrigued by the idea of RediPour and curious as to how it would work for their own
projects.

My personal favorite question asked was “How come I didn’t know about this
sooner?!” This particular spectator continued with a back story on how he spent five
years, as a weekend warrior, building 80 ft of retaining wall. With RediPour, he realized
his project could have been completed in just a single day without the backbreaking labor
of assembling CMUs. This is just one of the many similar stories that came from retired
contractors or homeowners that used more traditional methods of wall building.

A few landscape designers and concrete contractors were excited to see the unique curves
RediPour is capable of constructing. Our booth features a custom sloping curve that, as
said by a passing contractor, “would be virtually impossible with traditional methods of
wall construction”.

RediPour placed a humble third in the Landscaping Products category for the show. We
believe that our product, having been in the industry just over a year, is picking up more
attention than most new products in the construction industry because it has proven to be
the most cost effective and efficient method of wall construction in existence. With our
popularity on the rise, we expect this award to be the first of many.

Spring Home And Garden Show

Redi Pour had their hand in much more than their own booth for this Home & Garden Show. Our Redi Pour forms and Pattern Mix can be found in three additional booths including two from the Showcase Gardens which are All Natural Landscape and Autumn Leaf Landscape. The other booth is Ron Fry’s custom vertical carving (which is located directly across the aisle from ours) and he is featuring one of our brand new RediPour components. Stop by and see what other new components are available.

The process for constructing these booths was a major process for both companies and our Redi Pour team. Both All Natural Landscape and Autumn Leaf came to us with their initial sketches of what they saw fit for their booth. We took those 2D concepts and transformed them into a 3D model which featured Redi Pour as both walls and architectural features within their designs. We then began building which lead us into a new world of design options. Redi Pour partnered with Flex-Cement and developed a new line of decorative cement called Redi Pour Pattern Mix. This mix, along with multiple dye options, allowed us to carve any type and color of stone for the booths. The Autumn Leaf booth took our options one step further and created a horizontal wood grain pattern for their walls! Autum Leaf Landscape contracted designer Kristine Hanson from Green Leaf Design for their booth’s design and she came up with a series of walls with openings with the look of wood for the Sustainability themed garden.

The All Natural Landscape booth contains a fully functional fire place on a raised platform, the columns have a massive ledge stack stone exterior which support a timber pergola. Surrounding the booth are planter beds that double as seating walls which are also made from Redi Pour forms.Along with all the excitement of the show, we decided to launch our new line of Redi Pour components. The line has a focus on outdoor kitchen components and features other items such as fire pits, raised planter boxes, and seating walls.
